One killed in clash over land dispute in Kushtia

Supporters of two local influential men engaged in chase and counter-chase for several hours in Daulatpur area over land dispute

A man named Mizan was killed in clash over land dispute in the Shashidharpur Village in Kushtia, on Friday, leaving ten others injured, confirmed Daulatpur police station Officer-in-Charge Dara Khan.

According to locals and the police, Abu Affan and Gani were engaged in a land dispute with Mizan and were fighting a legal battle in this regard.

After a local court ruled in favour of Mizan, he and his supporters tried to establish their claim over disputed land presently under control of Affan and Gani.

Following the attempt, the situation quickly escalated into an armed clash, as supporters of both parties engaged in chase and counter-chase for several hours in Daulatpur area.

The clash left 11 people injured, who were later taken to hospitals in Daulatpur and Kushtia for treatment. 

Among them, Mizan died in the Kushtia Hospital.
