130 arrested in Jhenaidah, Kushtia

Police also recovered bombs and drugs from different upazilas of the districts

At least 130 people have been arrested in separate drives conducted in different upazilas of Jhenaidah and Kushtia from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Police also recovered some bombs and drugs from different upazilas of the districts.

In Jhenaidah, 66 people were arrested, including a Jamaat and a Shibir activist.

Additional Superintendent of Jhenaidah Police Milu Mia Biswas told the Dhaka Tribune, an anti drug and sabotage drive is being conducted throughout the district. 

At the time, six locally made bombs were recovered from Qurban Ali, while planning sabotage, in Sadar's Keshabpur.

In Kushtia, police have arrested 64 people, some of whom wanted in multiple cases, in Kushtia.

Law enforcers also recovered: 26 improvised bombs, five petrol bombs, 85 yaba tablets, 350g cannabis, 50g heroin and two liters of locally made alcohol—during the drives.

Confirming the matter, Superintendent of Kushtia police SM Tanvir Arafat said: "They will be produced before a court here later in the day."

The police will continue the operation in order to control the law and order situation, he added.
