A RAB 12 team arrested Mahid Mia alias Khokan, 35, in Faridpur’s Sadar upazila, on Wednesday night.

RAB-12, CPC-1 Kushtia Company Commander M M Mohaimnur Rashdi, told the reporters at a press briefing in the Rapid Action Battaline (RAB) -12, CPC-1 Kushtia's Office on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier on Monday, Mahid surrendered to a court and gained bail. The court also granted bail to the bus owner Jainal Abedin.

But the next day, another court cancelled their bail and issued them arrest warrants.

RAB arrested Jainal from his house in Faridpur on September 9. He was subsequently sent to jail.

Akifa, the one-year-old daughter of Harunur Rashid and Rina Akter, sustained injuries when a Ganj-e-raj Paribahan bus hit her mother and she fell from her mother’s lap—in Kushtia on August 28.

She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on August 30.

Her father filed a case with Kushtia Model police station against bus driver Khokon, owner Joynal, and supervisor Yunus, the same day.

Video footage of the incident went viral on social networking site Facebook, sparking outrage among locals.

The government formed a 10-member body to probe the incident. The committee has already visited the site of the accident and met with the victim’s parents.
