One of them is reportedly missing since September 5 and the two others since September 6
A doctor and two youths have gone missing in Sylhet, leaving their families in distress.
Identified as Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, 30, Imad UddisSuhin, 24,and Sazzad Hossain – the trio went missing in between 24 hours last week. Their families are yet to learn anything about their whereabouts.
Family members claimed Mahfuzur was picked up by members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police from his home at Kaskanakpur village under Zakiganj upazila on September 6.
His uncle and Zakiganj Awami League leader Moshleh Uddin Suhel said: “Several men, identifying themselves as DB officials, had taken him away around 10:30pm.”
Since then, family members had been knocking on the doors of different law enforcement agencies both in Sylhet and Dhaka, but there are yet to find any information regarding his whereabouts.
Zakiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman Hawladar said that the family has also filed a general diary (GD) in this regard and they were investigating.
Mahfuzur, a father of four who completed his MBBS from North East Medical College, had recently finished his internship at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
Meanwhile,Imad Uddis Suhin of Kamalganj upazilawent missing from Sylhet city's Tilagarh area in the evening of September 5.
His uncle Hafizur Rahman said that Imad had come from Moulvibazar that day to visit a relative who was staying in Sylhet.
He said that they informed the police and Rapid Action Battalion after Imad went missing, but they are yet to find him.
Twelve hours after Imad’s disappearance, Sazzad Hossain, a third-year student ofthe city’s Murari Chand College,went missing from Tilagarh’s Shaplabag area, around 10am the next day.
Sazzad, son of freedom fighter Idris Ali, is from Habiganj’s Shayestaganj union.
His brother Sujid Sujahid Ali said that there was no information regarding Sazzad’s whereabouts till Sunday.
Shah Paran police station OC Akhter Hossain said that the families of both Imad and Sazzad had filed two general diaries with them and they were investigating.
Meanwhile, another youth named Abul Bashar Kaher, 24, had gone missing from the city’s Kadamtali area around 8pm on September 5.
He was found near the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 10:30pm Saturday, and currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
