3 killed in Panchagarh road mishap, case filed

Three people were killed on the spot after a passenger night-coach of Tanzila Transport hit a motorcycle rider inthe Dinapara area on the Panchgarh-Thakurgaon highway in the Boda upazila of the district around 8 pm on Saturday night. 

The deceased were identified as motorcycle rider Akhtaruzzaman Akhter, his six-year-old daughter Afsa Ibnath Adia and 14-month-old son Abdullah.

Police said, the accident occurred when Akhtaruzzman along with his wife and two children were returning to their rented house in the Dhonipara area on a motorbike. The Dhaka-bound night coach knocked the motorcycle from behind killing Akhtaruzzaman on the spot and injuring the rest. The two children died while they were being taken to the nearby hospital, while Tania was admitted to Panchagarh Modern Hospital. Later she was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated.  

Akhtaruzzaman Akhter, an inhabitant of the Kaunia village in the Debiganj upazila was a sales representative at My One Electronics in the upazila.

The killer coach was seized from the Boddaga area but the driver and the helper managed to flee. Akhtarul Islam, Sub-Inspector in-charge of the Boda Highway Police check-post said, a case has been filed with Boda police station against the driver. 

Agitated people suspended the movement of vehicles on the highway for several hours protesting the accident.
