Mother hands son over to police for stabbing girl

On August 31, with the help of three associates, Kaosar Ovi kidnapped the girl from a beauty parlour in the Badurtala area where she worked

Kaosar Ovi, son of Jubo League’s Bogra town unit president, who brutally attacked an 18-year-old college girl for turning down his proposal of “love,” has been handed over to police by his mother.

According to local sources, Nasrin Alam handed over Ovi to the Sadar police station on Sunday night.

Monday morning the police produced him before a Bogra court, seeking five days to question him in a case filed over torturing the girl.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Shariful Islam granted police two days to interrogate him, confirmed Sadar police OC Sheikh Farid.

Ovi, 22, son of Jubo League leader Mahfuzul Alam, has been harassing the girl, a second-year student of Govt Mujibur Rahman Women's College, for a while now on the streets when she would either on her way to or from the college.

On August 31, assisted by three of his friends, he kidnapped the girl from a beauty parlour from Badurtala area, where she worked, and later brought her to the town’s Katnapara area and kept her confined in a house.

At one point, Ovi stabbed the girl in her hip and hands when she continuously rejected his proposal to carry on a romantic relationship.

Locals rescued the girl in critical condition and sent her to the Sawdesh Clinic in the Namajgarh area. Later, she was shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated.

On Saturday, her father had filed the case with the Sadar police station over the incident.
