Narcotics worth Tk21 cr seized over a month in Teknaf

Aside from Yaba, a significant amount of foreign liquor, homebrew alcohol and bear were seized while being smuggled through the border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized banned narcotics, such as Yaba tablets worth around Tk21 crore, as those contraband were being smuggled through the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar over the course of past month.

Aside from Yaba, a significant amount of foreign liquor, homebrew alcohol and bear were seized while being smuggled through the border.

Teknaf Battalion 2 acting Commander Major Shariful Islma Jomadder made the disclosure in a press release on Sunday.

According to the press release, several types of contraband, including Yaba tablets worth Tk20,92,47,352 were seized along key points of the Teknaf border from August 1 to 31 at different encounters, this year.

Thirty five people have also been arrested in connection with the matter, and fifty cases have been filed against them.
