Akifa’s father Harun-ur-Rashid filed the case with Kushtia model police on Thursday night
A case has been filed against three people, including the driver of a bus that was involved in an accident that led to the death of one-year-old Akifa.
Akifa’s father Harun-ur-Rashid filed the case with Kushtia model police on Thursday night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasiruddin said: “The case was filed against the driver and his two helpers for reckless driving under the Road Transport Act.”
“We are trying to arrest them,” he told the Dhaka Tribune.
On the morning of August 28, Akifa’s mother Rina Begum was walking down the road carrying the infant in front of a stationary bus named Ganjeraaj near Chourhash intersection of Kushtia.
Akifa was knocked from her mother’s arms when the bus hit them. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed in a nearby jewelry shop.
The mother and the child were initially admitted to Kushtia General Hospital, but Akifa was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) after her condition deteriorated.
The infant died on Thursday, following two days of treatment at DMCH. She was buried at the Chourhash Graveyard after her funeral in Kushtia the same day.
