Owners, drivers among seven sued for Natore road accident

At least 15 people were killed, and 14 others injured, when a bus collided head-on with a human hauler in Lalpur upazila on Saturday

Police have filed a case against seven people, including the owners and drivers of the two vehicles involved in Saturday’s road accident, in Natore, that left 15 people dead and 14 injured.

Lalpur police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali filed the case on Saturday night. 

Bonpara highway police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) GM Shamsun Nur has been made the investigation officer for the case. 

He said the owners and drivers of the bus and human hauler have been accused in the case, but he declined to reveal their names for the sake of the investigation.

Drives are underway to nab the accused, the investigation officer said, adding that the two vehicles have been kept in the police station.

Meanwhile, the bodies of 14 victims have been handed over to the families for burial.

The remaining body, which could not be identified, was sent to the morgue, on Sunday morning, for an autopsy, said Lalpur police station’s OC Nazrul Islam Jewel. 

Natore Deputy Commissioner Shahina Khatun said they are preparing to provide the money for the families of the deceased and injured—as previously announced.
