Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent back a boat of 12 Rohingyas after it violated a BGB signal while attempting to enter Bangladesh along the Naf River on Monday night.

The boat - which was reported to have been carrying seven children, three women and two men - was intercepted at Shah Parir Dwip point of the border at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

“A BGB patrol spotted the boat as it was trying to enter Bangladesh territory from Myanmar at the zero line of the border,” said Major Md Shariful Islam Joarddar, additional director of BGB Teknaf 2 Battalion.

“BGB forces are kept alert to prevent any kinds of offensive activities including illegal trespassing,” he added.
