The 340,000 yaba pills, were seized at Nazirpara Rahman border point
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a consignment of yaba pills from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The consignment of illegal drugs, containing 340,000 yaba pills, was seized while in transit through the Nazirpara Rahman border point, in the early hours of Sunday.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Teknaf-2 BGB Commander Lt Col Md Asaduzzaman Chowdhury said: “Based on a tip-off, BGB members from the Nazirpara border outpost conducted a drive in the area.
“The BGB personnel found a gang of 10-12 culprits moving through the area with a sack. When they were asked to stop, they left the sack behind and escaped. Upon further investigation, 340,000 yaba pills, worth Tk10.2 crore, were found inside the sack.”
He continued: “The seized yaba pills have been placed in the battalion’s headquarters. The illegal drugs will be destroyed in the presence of senior officials, representatives from the Department of Narcotics Control and the local administration.”
