Two more served with show cause notices
Six students of Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University, in Tangail, have been temporarily suspended for spreading false rumours; and making derogatory comments against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Chhatra League and law enforcement agencies—during the student’s movement for safe roads.
Two students have been served with show cause notices for the same reasons. The university’s Proctor’s Office issued the orders on Wednesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, university Proctor Dr Sirajul Islam said: “Six students received temporary suspensions for making defamatory comments against the honourable prime minister and law enforcement agencies—and for spreading false rumours.
“Two other students have been served show cause notices and asked to respond to them within seven working days.”
The suspended students are: Jakia Rahman and Jakia Begum from the environmental science and resource management department, Tanbir Hassan from the computer science and engineering department, Obaidullah from the physics department, Sumaiya Islam from the statistics department, and Md Imran Hossain from the mathematics department.
Show cause notices were served to Mehnaz Hossain from the criminology and police science department and Shuvra Debnath from the computer science and engineering department.
