A mobile court, run by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has seized around 9,500 bottles of local liquor and sentenced five people each to three months in jail in Natore’s Lalpur upazila. 

The elite force also fined one person Tk1 lakh and sealed off a storehouse during the raid, Natore RAB’s acting Company Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police Ajmal Hossain said. 

He said the RAB team, led by Lalpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nazrul Islam, conducted a daylong drive in a local market of the upazila on Monday and recovered 9,461 bottles of alcohol.  

The team also sentenced five people each to three months in jail for selling liquor in public.

The penalty was given under the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, UNO Nazrul said, adding that the arrestees were sent to jail.
