RAB claims to have recovered 120kg cannabis, two firearms, and bullets after the ‘skirmish’

Three suspected drug peddlers have been killed in what the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described as a gunfight in Chittagong’s Khulshi area.

RAB identified two of the deceased as Zakir Hossain, 31, and Dalim Sheikh, 29.

The gunfight took place around 3:30am, on Thursday, at Khulshi rail crossing, said RAB 7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Mimtanur Rahman.

He said they were tipped off that a private car carrying narcotics was heading to Chittagong from Comilla.

"A RAB patrol team signalled the car to pull over but the drug dealers fired at RAB members from the vehicle, triggering a skirmish,” Mimtanur said.

“Three bodies were later recovered from the spot along with 120kg cannabis, two firearms, and bullets," the RAB official said.

The bodies have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsies.

More than a hundred suspected drug dealers have been killed since the government launched an anti-narcotics drive in May.
