Jessore kotwali police have found the bullet-riddled bodies of two suspected robbers near Kanaitola area of Jessore.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector Kaiyum Munshi said: “We received a tip off on phone around 2:55am on Wednesday that a gang of criminals are preparing for a robbery near Kanaitola area.

“A police team arrived in the area to investigate, but found two bodies riddled with bullets at the scene. There were machetes, a saw, coils of rope, and sandals scattered around the bodies. We sent the bodies to a nearby hospital. A case will be filed in this regard.”

The SI added that the two unidentified men could have been killed during a ‘gunfight’ triggered by internal dispute.

Speaking to the correspondent, Dr Kajol Mallik of Jessore General Hospital Emergency Department said: “The men died before they were brought into the hospital.”

The deceased, aged around 35 and 45 respectively, are yet to be identified by the authorities.
