'As the sea was turbulent, nearby trawlers could not rescue the fishermen'
Stormy winds have caused fishing trawler FB Orko to capsize in the Chalna area of the Bay of Bengal, resulting in 19 fishermen going missing.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning, confirmed
Ashutosh Sarkar, the owner of the trawler.
Ashutosh also said: “As the sea was turbulent, nearby trawlers could not rescue the fishermen.”
The incident comes in the wake of another trawler Tariqul 1 that capsized early Saturday morning, with 17 fishermen being thrown overboard. 16 of them have since been rescued, with only the trawler’s chef Amirul remaining unaccounted for.
