Gold worth Tk55 lakh recovered in Benapole

BGB has detained a 24-year-old man

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained a suspected smuggler with two gold bars, weighing 1.1kg, in Benapole. 

Milon Hossain, 24, was detained while he was going to Bahadurpur around 8am on Wednesday. He is the son of Moshiur Rahman of Purabari Narayanpur village.

Benapole Amarkhali BGB Checkpost Commander Nayeb Subedar Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Acting on a tip-off, we took our position in Bahadurpur. We searched Milon when he arrived in the area and detained him with the gold bars worth Tk55 lakh.”

The detainee has been handed over to Benapole port police, the BGB official added.
