Priest of the temple found the Kali idol with its head broken off
Unknown miscreants have vandalized a Kali idol at a Hindu temple in Barisal's Gournadi upazila.
The incident took place on Sunday night at the Sharbajanin Shri Shri Tara Mayer Temple in Chargadhi area of upazila Sadar.
The temple's priest Shankar Chakrabarty found the Kali idol's head broken off and the temple's boundary wall vandalized when he went there on Monday morning, said the temple's management committee General Secretary Subhash Debnath Shaon.
A case has been filed over the incident by Shankar's son Shrikrishna Chakrabarty, also a priest at the temple, Gournadi police station Officer-in-Charge Munirul Islam said.
“Police are investigating the matter with due diligence. The culprits will be identified and brought to justice,” he said.
Gournadi circle's Additional Superintendent of Police Abdur Rob Howlader has visited the temple.
