With the latest death, at least 123 people have been killed in 'gunfights' with members of law enforcement agencies
A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Chandmari in Narail in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased has not yet been identified.
According to police, they conducted the drive in the area around 3am on a tip off. Sensing police presence, the drug peddlers opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to return fire in self-defence, triggering the gunfight.
Following the gunfight, police recovered the suspect’s bullet-riddled body from the spot. Five policemen were also injured. Police later found a pipe gun, one bullet, and some illegal drugs from the scene.
