Employees have ceased the performance of all kinds of official activities
Fourth-grade employees of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur have gone on a strike for an indefinite period on four-point demands including employee promotion and up-gradation.
The strike began at around 10.30am on Wednesday. The employees have ceased the performance of all kinds of official activities.
The demands include a change in promotion policy and ensuring permanent jobs by reimbursing the salaries of all fourth-grade employees.
Meanwhile, the sudden strike has halted all administrative functions of the university, said administrative officials.
General Secretary of fourth-grade employee association Nur-E-Alam said despite repeated assurances from the administration, their demands have not been met yet. Hence, they were left with no options but to strike.
The strike will continue till all their demands are met, he said.
