Three people have been arrested for killing a Rohingya leader from Balukhali Rohingya camp-2.

Police on Friday arrested three Rohingya men in connection with the murder and sent them to jail.

The detained Rohingya men are Enayet Ullah, 41, son of   late Fazal Karim, Abdullah, 60, son of Abddus Shukkur, from Balukhali camp-2 and Md Anwar, 38, son of late Nur Mohammad, from Balukhali E block – 26.

Police and local sources said on Monday night, the members of a Rohingya miscreants murdered Rohingya leader Arifullah by slitting his throat in front of everyone. It was a pre-meditated murder.

According to head of Balukhali- 2 Rohingya camp Abu Taher, the miscreants had already tried killing Arifullah on a previous occasion.

The local Rohingya people said Afrfullah had made a strong stand against the Rakhine -based Rohingya extremist group Al Yakin or Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).

The local Rohingya people made allegations against Arifullah of being involved in scamming foreigners using the refugee issue, and engaging in sexual misconduct and other questionable behaviour.

He was also suspected of leaking information about ARSA to the local administration and foreigners.

These reasons made Arifullah a target of ARSA.

A group of Ronihgya people also attacked Arifullah on January 19. His brother Mohibullah was injured at that time.

Confirming the news, Ukhia police station OC Mohammad Abul Khair said: “Police have arrested three Rohingya terrorists on charges of involvement in the killing of Arifullah.”
