Police said they suspect he was shot dead by his rival drug peddlers
Police say they have recovered the body of a man, who they say was known as a “notorious drug dealer”, from the locality.
“Rejaul Karim Dipjol, 38, was a wanted criminal,” Bogra sadar circle’s Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakrabarty said.
“He had stabbed an on-duty member of the Armed Police Battalion on March 8 last year,” Sanatan added.
Dipjol was found dead in the early hours of Thursday at the town’s Malgram Chhilimpur—new bypass road.
Police said they suspect he was shot dead by his rival drug peddlers. They also claimed to have recovered a locally-made gun, three bullets, and 400 yaba pills from the spot.
Dipjol was accused in 10 criminal cases, including possession of illegal firearms and drugs.
ASP Sanatan said several police teams had rushed to the new bypass road around 2am after learning that a gunfight was going on there.
A man was found with several gunshot wounds, including one to his chest. He was rushed to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where doctors pronounced him dead.
Sanatan said they ascertained his identity from an identity card found on him.
A murder case would be filed, the police officer said.
