At least 27 were injured in the accidents
Five people were killed in separate road accidents in Rangpur and Gaibandha districts on Thursday.
In Rangpur, three people were killed when a bus hit a motorcycle they were riding in Kaunia upazila Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shaku, 18, Abul Kalam, 16, and Soleman Ali, 65.
Kaunia police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun said a bus collided head-on with a motorbike near power development boardoffice area around 9am, leaving the three riders dead on site.
Police later impounded the bus, but the driver and helper managed to flee.
In Gaibandha, two people have been killed and 27 injured in head-on collision between two buses on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gobindaganj upazila Thursday morning.
One of the deceased has been identified as Mehedi Hasan while the identity of the other one was not immediately known.
Gobindaganj Highway police OC Akteruzzaman said a Dhaka-bound bus “Mayer Achol” collided head-on with a “Khalek Enterprise” bus coming from the opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot and 27 injured.
The injured were taken to Gobindaganj Health Complex, Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, the OC added.
