Mother, son killed in Savar wall collapse

The deceased are garment worker Selima Khatun and her 10-year-old son Siyam, originally hailing from Kamalpara village of Gaibandha.

A mother and a son were killed when the wall of a water tank collapsed on them in Narsinghapur Banglabazar area of Ashulia. 

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday. 

The deceased are garment worker Selima Khatun and her 10-year-old son Siyam, originally hailing from Kamalpara village of Gaibandha.

They lived in a rented house at Nur Md Palwan in the area.

According to police and locals, the wall of the water tank collapsed while they were sleeping in a room adjacent to the tank.

Later, a team of DPEZ fire service went to the spot and rescued the bodies, station officer Humayun Kabir said. 

Selima's brother Tutul, who was also injured in the incident, was admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka.

Ashulia police station Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam Azad said a case will be filed over the incident.
