Ershad called on the government to enact a law with death penalty in the next parliamentary session to eradicate drugs
Jatiya Party Chairman and prime minister's Special Envoy HM Ershad has claimed that people are being killed indiscriminately in gunfights in the name of anti-drug drives.
“We do not know who they are, these people who are being killed,” Ershad said at a JaPa event on Wednesday.
“The drug lord is in the parliament. Try him and hang him,” he said.
The former military dictator said it was unacceptable to “kill people” without trial in this manner.
“Every person has a constitutional right to get a fair trial. There are no parallels of this anywhere. The world will not accept this,” he said.
Ershad called on the government to enact a law with death penalty in the next parliamentary session to eradicate drugs.
Opposition leader in parliament and JaPa Co-Chairman Raushan Ershad, Co-Chairman GM Quader, Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howlader and other senior leaders spoke at the event.
