The tailback started early morning on Wednesday from Toll Plaza in Daudkandi to Putia
Hundreds of passengers have been stuck in a 20-kilometre long traffic gridlock on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla.
The tailback started early morning on Wednesday from Toll Plaza in Daudkandi to Putia.
Due to the tailback, it now takes eight to nine hours to reach Dhaka from Cumilla instead of two hours.
Shahzada Emran, a Dhaka-bound passenger, said he started from Cumilla around 5am and it took him seven hours to reach Hasanpur in Daudkandi.
“It should have taken one hour to reach Daudkandi,” he said.
Shafiqul Islam, assistant superintendent of police at Cumilla Region Highway Police, attributed the gridlock to the huge number of goods vehicles on the highway.
“We are working to ease the tailback,” he said.
