At least two people have been killed by a nor’wester that swept over three southern districts of Barisal, Bhola and Jhalkathi.
One person died in Barisal and the other died in Bhola in the Tuesday afternoon’s storm.
Crops were destroyed and trees uprooted in many areas of these districts during the storm. Power supply was also disrupted.

Over a hundred thatched houses were affected in Barisal due to the storm.
Safipur Union Chairman Md Abu Musa said a woman died in West Boalia village.
Several people were also injured at that time. Two of them were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and three to Gournadi Upazila Health Complex.
More than 400 houses and establishments were affected in the nor’wester in two upazilas of Bhola.

A boatman was killed as his vessel capsized during the storm. At least 20 people were injured and they were admitted to the upazila health complex.
Upazila officials said the authorities are working on assessing the loss and the affected would be provided assistance.
In Jhalakathi, a launch terminal, 20 houses and shops were destroyed in the nor’easter. However, no casualties were reported.
