Two non-resident Bangladeshi brothers have been detained for allegedly torturing a domestic help and her seven-year-old daughter in Sylhet on Sunday.
The detainees are Kobir Ahmed Khokan, 42, and Sakir Ahmed Munna, 43, hailing from the city’s Mojumdari area. The duo live in the UK, according to the police.
Police said the brothers tied the victims to a tree and a pole before severely beating them up accusing the mother and daughter of stealing gold jewellery.
Airport police station’s Officer-in-Charge Mosarrof Hossain said they rushed to the spot and rescued the victims who were later sent to the MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.
A case has been filed against the brothers, the OC added.
