20 critically injured and admitted to the district Sadar Hospital
At least 50 people were injured in a clash over a land dispute in Habiganj’s Nabiganj upazila Monday morning.
Of them, 20 were critically injured and were admitted to the district’s Sadar Hospital.
Local sources said there had been a longstanding conflict between Prodip Sarkar and Probindra Sarkar of Nabiganj’s Ramjanpur village under Kaliyarbhanga union over the possession of a parcel of agricultural land.
As a sequel to the enmity, the duo and their supporters attacked each other with lethal weapons, leaving 50 people injured.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Nabiganj police station Officer-in-Charge SM Ataur Rahman said additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid further trouble.
