Child dies in Naogaon allegedly due to medical negligence
A doctor from Shah Nursing Home and Diagnostic Centre, a private clinic in Naogaon, has been accused of causing the death of an eight-year-old child named Al Ikhlas. The relatives of the child claimed that he died after a botched surgical procedure performed by the doctor. The incident occurred on Sunday morning. Ikhlas was the son of Shukbar Ali from Digha Uttar Para village of Atrai upazila under the Naogaon district. Shukbar Ali said: “Ikhlas was admitted to the clinic on April 14 for a tonsil operation. The clinic’s ear, nose and throat specialist Dr Asafuddoula operated on him around 10pm. My son did not gain consciousness after the operation. We tried to contact the authorities but they left the clinic without saying anything to us.” Naogaon sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Sumit Kumar said: “After hearing about the child’s death, the relatives vandalized the clinic. The police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.” No case has been filed in this regard yet. The OC said investigation will begin after a case has been filed.
