3 burned, 6 injured in Ashulia explosion

Three members of a family have been burned in their home due to an explosion, while six more were injured after a wall of the house collapsed. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at Ashulia’s Bhadail area inside a two-storey building. The injured have been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital. They have been identified as Alamgir, 40, his wife Afroza Khatun, 30, and their son Alamin, 12, hailing from Sherpur upazila of Bogra district. Dr Rezaul Haque, head of the Intensive Care Unit of Enam Medical College Hospital said Afroza received 70% burn injury while their son Alamin received 60%; they are both in critical condition. As of now, the authorities are not sure whether the incident was triggered by a gas cylinder explosion. Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Awal confirmed the incident. He said: “The police received news of the explosion and surrounded the area. The house could not be entered as the walls of the building collapsed.”
