Fifteen people have been killed and 24 others injured in road accidents in five districts across the country.
In Narsingdi alone, nine people were killed in three road accidents in Raipura and Madhabdi upazilas on Friday.
In Raipura, four motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit their motorbike on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Charabagh.
The deceased were Ramjan Miah, 17, son of Asad Choukidar, Dalim Miah, 14, son of Hafizuddin, Sohagh Miah, 18, son of Sharif Miah of Morjal in Raipura upazila, and Yamin, 25, of Putia in Shibpur upazila.
Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura police station, said a Dhaka-bound bus from Bhairab smashed the bike around 8:10 am, leaving all the riders killed on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue at a local hospital.
In Madhabdi, three people were killed and 20 others wounded as a Habiganj-bound bus hit an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Habiganj highway in front of Birampur Palli Bidyut office around 1:30pm, when its driver lost control of the steering wheel.
The deceased were rickshaw-puller Ilias Ali, 32, passenger Ratan Miah, 45, and pedestrian Makbul Miah, 40. The injured were admitted to different hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, a couple was killed when a car hit their motorcycle on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Panchdona area around 3:30pm.
The deceased were Aminul Haque, 35, and his wife Mansura Begum, 30, said Ilias Miah, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station.
In Sherpur district, two motorcyclists were killed when their motorbike hit a roadside tree on the Kamaria-Nakla road at Baniapara in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased were Janu Mia, 17, and Rajib Ahmed, 18, both residents of Poladeshi village in Nokla upazila, said Shamsul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.
In Bogra, a passenger of a human hauler died as the vehicle veered off the road at Majhira in Shajahanpur upazila.
Deceased Alamgir Hossain Alam, 52, was a meat trader.
Locals caught and handed driver Masud Rana over to police as he tried to flee the scene.
Shajahanpur police said they would take legal action upon receipt of a complaint.
In Jhenaidah, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a tractor at Mohamaya in Sadar upazila the same day, leaving one CNG passenger dead and three others injured.
The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, the wife of Hashem Ali of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia.
The injured were rescued and sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, said Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Jhenaidah Sadar police station.
In Cox's Bazar, two people were killed and another person was injured as a Pajero jeep rammed into a motorcycle on Marine Drive in Ukhia upazila on Thursday.
The deceased were Jubairul Islam Chowdhury, 26, son of Rafique Ahmed of Uttar Mithachhari of Ramu upazila, and Shaker Ullah, 28, of Borodeil in Maheshkhali upazila.
Police said the jeep of an NGO working at the Rohingya refugee camps hit the motorcycle at Patuartek in the afternoon, leaving Jubairul dead on the spot and his co-riders injured.
Locals took the injured to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Shaker dead.
Md Anisur Rahman, in-charge of Inani police camp, said they recovered the bodies and sent them to a hospital morgue for autopsy.
