BNP’s Khulna district unit Religious Affairs Secretary Nazrul Islam, who had been reportedly missing since March 17, has been rescued from Cox’s Bazar’s Ramu upazila.
Nizamuddin Mollah, superintendent of police in Khulna, said a team of Dumuria police station early Thursday spotted the BNP leader after tracking his mobile phone and rescued him from Ramu upazila with the help of Cox's Bazar police.
A team of Khulna police is on the way to Cox's Bazar to bring him back, he added.
On March 17, Nazrul Islam was reportedly picked up by unidentified persons while he was returning home from Keshabpur area in Jashore after visiting a doctor.
Later, Nazrul’s wife Tanjila Begum filed a case with Dumuria police station.
Local leaders and activists of the party staged demonstration several times and formed a human chain on Friday demanding that its missing leader be traced immediately.
