Tangail: Student caned by teacher lands in hospital
A Madrasa student landed in hospital after being beaten by his teacher in Madhupur, Monday evening. The injured student, Rifat, was admitted to Madhupur upazila health complex.The incident took place at Ulum Diniah Madrasa of Akashi Sheoratola area of Madhupur,Tangail. “Rifat is out of danger but it will take time to fully recover,” said Dr Rasheduzzaman of the health complex. Rifat is the son of Nuruzzaman of Pundura Charpara village. The accused teacher FazlulHaque is on the run at the moment. There have been several complaints against him of beating students. Rifat was severely beaten by cane when he was unable to pronounce an Arabic letter properly. Local people are furious about this matter. Rifat’s father Nuruzzaman said, “I want proper punishment of the teacher as this kind of behaviour is not at all acceptable.” The Head Master of the Madrasa, Nazrul Islam, said, “It was unjust, what the teacher did to Rifat.We will take necessary action against the teacher after discussing the matter with the Municipality Mayor." Regarding the matter, UNO of Madhupur, Ramendra Nath Biswas, said,“Nobody has informed me about it officially, but I will look into the matter anyway and take necessary steps.”
