President Abdul Hamid arrived in Munshiganj on a two-day visit to oversee the overall progress of the Padma Bridge.
A helicopter carrying the president landed in Padma Bridge Service Area 1 under Srinagar upazila around 1:47pm on Monday, Louhajang police station Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.
Louhajang UNO Md Monir Hossain also confirmed the arrival of the president in the district.
Dewan Mohammed Abdul Kader, manager and executive engineer of the Padma Bridge project, said President Hamid will go to Mawa point and take a C-Boat to inspect the construction work of the bridge.
Later, after finishing his lunch at the Service Area 1, Hamid will again oversee the bridge work from the Janzira point, where he will stay the night.
The president will fly back to Dhaka on Tuesday.
