42km long tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

A 42-kilometre-long tailback was created from Narayanganj’s Madanpur to Daudkandi’s Gouripur area in Comilla Saturday morning. Comilla highway police Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said the gridlock started on Thursday night and it has been continuing for the third consecutive day. The traffic movement, in the connecting roads, has been very slow, he added. He said: “There was a long tailback of 22-kilometre Saturday morning till 10am in Comilla.” “There was traffic congestion alongside Meghna river,” the OC said, adding: “We are doing our best to control the situation so that traffic movement goes back to normal.”
