Police have detained a ninth grader boy for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Noakhali’s Subarnachar upazila.
The victim girl is a first grader at a madrasa in Charbata union. She has been admitted to Noakhali General Hospital in critical condition.
The accused, a ninth grader of Habibia High School, was detained from his house at the union’s Purba Charmajid Adarsha village around 12pm on Thursday, after the victim’s father lodged a complaint at Char Jabbar police station.
Locals said the victim child was raped Wednesday evening at a garden near her home by the boy when she was on her way to a local shop.
He then fled the scene leaving her in a bloodied state. The matter became public after the girl returned home and told her mother.
Police, after being informed by her parents, had rushed the child to the hospital, and detained the accused during a raid on Thursday.
Noakhali General Hospital’s duty doctor Farzana Omi said the girl was given first aid upon arrival. “Her medical examination is done. We will be able to tell more after receiving the test reports,” she added.
Char Jabbar police OC Md Nizam Uddin the victim’s family has already filed a rape case against the ninth grader boy under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
