Five Bangladeshi adolescents have been sent back from India after serving their jail terms for travelling without valid documents.
Indian immigration police handed them over to Bangladesh authorities at the Benapole land port around 7:30pm on Wednesday.
They are Anima Das, 18, Ruma Khatun, 17, Mamtaz Khatun, 18, Patru Kisku, 17, and Shibani Das, 14. They hailed from Barisal, Pirojpur, Bagerhat and Dinajpur.
Benapole immigration police In-Charge Officer-in-Charge (OC) Toriqul Islam said these youngsters went to India illegally for work.
They were working as domestic helps before they were detained by India police.
Later a shelter home `Sukonya’ had them released from jail and took their custody through the court. They stayed there for two years.
Benapole port police station Sub-Inspector Sujit said Jessore women lawyers association would take the custody of the juveniles. Later, the association will hand them over to their families.
