DB police Inspector Jalal Uddin buried with state honours in Jhenaidah

Detective Branch (DB) of Police Inspector Jalal Uddin, who died in a gunfight with criminals in Dhaka on early Tuesday, has been buried with state honours at his village home in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. Jalal Uddin's body arrived at his village home, in the Bholapara area, at around 10:30pm on Tuesday. At 11pm, he was given a guard of honour by a team from Jhenaidah Police Lines, confirmed Kaliganj police station Second Officer SI Nirob Hossain. DB Inspector Jalal Uddin died of brain damage at Square Hospital at around 2am on Tuesday.

DMP’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) (Mirpur Zone) Masud Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune: “Acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted a drive at a three-storey building near Alimuddin School in Modhyo Pirerbag around 12:30am. “A group of miscreants opened fire on the DB team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Shahadat Hossain, when they tried to raid the building. In retaliation, the DB officials fired back.” He said the critically injured Jahangir was admitted to Square Hospital around 1am, having been shot in the head.
