A Bangladeshi businessman living in the Mayfair area of Johannesburg, South Africa was shot by terrorists outside his house around 6pm on Saturday.
The deceased, Md Abu Sufian Swapan, 42, was from Musapur union under Companiganj upazila in Noakhali. The news of his death reached his family in Bangladesh on Sunday night.
His younger brother, Abul Hossain, who also lives in Johannesburg, said: "Sufian was going to the market from his home late Saturday afternoon when some men shot him while he was inside his car. When locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, the attending doctor pronounced him dead.
“My brother came to South Africa 14 years ago and was a businessman here. On Saturday morning, he called his family and told them he would be coming home within a few days,” the victim’s brother said.
Abu Sufian Swapan is survived by a son and a daughter.
