At least one person has been killed and five others, including children, were injured by a landmine blast in Bandarban.
Pruai Murong, a 40 year old male, was killed in a landmine blast while trying to cross the Myanmar border with other members of his family, in Ralai Para of Alikadam upazila of Bandarban, on Wednesday.
Five members of the family including children were injured in the blast. The deceased was the son of Kinyong Murong of Ralai Para.
The injured are Pruai’s wife Chongrey Murong, 35, sons Situ Murong, 9, Ya Yong Murong, 5, Tongko Murong, 3, and Tongrung Murong , 2.
They were admitted to Alikadam Upazila Health Complex and later sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the news, Alikadam police station Sub-Inspector Mohammad Alamgir said "there has been some delay in recovering the dead body because of the place being remote."
BGB sector commander Col Iqbal Hossain said: “A gang has been tempting people to cross the border to Myanmar for quite a while now."
Pruai was escaping to Myanmar with his family in secret and was killed by a landmine put by the Myanmar Army. He died instantly while his family members were injured.
