‘No Rohingyas can live in the Chittagong Hill Tracts’
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has forbid Rohingyas from living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and has ordered to take all refugees to Cox’s Bazar, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has said. The state minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts made the remarks during the monthly meeting on law and order at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Bandarban on Sunday. He said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was constantly monitoring to ensure that Rohingyas are not entering through Bandarban border from Myanmar and ruin the environment of hill tracts by cutting down hills and trees to build settlements. “The district administration and the people should also be on alert always about this issue,” said Ushwe Sing, also the Bandarban MP. The district’s Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain, Superintendent of Police Md Jakir Hossain Majumder, Additional District Magistrate Mufidul Alam, members of district council, and senior officials of police, BGB and Ansar and VDP were also present, among others, during Sunday’s meeting.
