Police have arrested Johurul Haque, principal of Kapasia Metropolitan Technical and Business Management School and College in Poba upazila, Rajshahi over allegations of abduction and rape attempts brought against him by a student of the institution.
Katakhali police station Sub-Inspector Robiul Islam said they had detained Johurul from the Poba Upazila Nirbahi Officer's Office around 3:30pm on Thursday.
Earlier, a group of residents in Kapasia filed a complaint at the UNO's Office with allegations that the principal had tried to sexually assault two girls and a female teacher of that institution.
Another group of people also took the side of the principal in the controversy.
Following the detention of the principal on Thursday, a female student filed a case of abduction and rape attempt against him.
He was shown arrested in the case and would be produced before the court on Friday, the SI added.
Poba UNO Alamgir Kabir said he called the principal and the college's managing committee members to his office on Thursday afternoon to discuss the issue.
However, the UNO was not present at his office when the principal was detained.
