No power during state minister of power’s speech
State Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid faced a power outage during his speech at Sakhipur Residential Women’s Honors College orientation ceremony. The power was out from 4:44pm to 5:06pm. He expressed anger and dismay towards the Power Division officials during the event after facing the outage. He said: “Since I have assumed office, I have noticed that power goes out wherever I go. Why this happens, I do not know. "Maybe the Power Division wants everyone to know that the state minister of power is here. Whenever I ask, they always claim a transformer blew up. They always want to avoid responsibility.” The audience erupted into raucous laughter as Power Division employees ran around frantically, trying desperately to get the power back and save their faces. During the outage, the state minister carried out his speech with the aid of a generator. Sakhipur Power Division’s Assistant Engineer Jamanat Ali Akand said: “There were some issues with the Tangail grid. But the Kalihati grid served as backup.” The event was presided by local MP Anupam Shahjahan Joy. Bangladesh National Cadre Corps goodwill ambassador Rashek Rahman, UP Chairman Shawkat Sikdar were also present at the event.
