4 dead in Cox’s Bazar road crash
Four people have been killed after a passenger bus crashed into a microbus head-on in Cox’s Bazar. Five others were also injured in the accident on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong Highway around 7:30am on Saturday, Chokoria police station’s Officer-in-Charge Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said. The deceased have been identified as microbus driver Joynal Abedin, 25, hailing from Ramu. The other three --  Ali Akbor, 19, Shahabuddin, 18, and Harunur Rashid, 16, hailed from Ukhiya. They were going to Bandarban for a picnic in the morning when the accident took place. A Cox’s Bazar-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan and a microbus going to Chittagong collided head-on killing three people on the spot, locals and police said. Another person died when being taken to the hospital. The injured have been taken to Chokoria Health Complex. The bus driver fled the scene. OC Bakhtiar said they had confiscated the vehicles.
