Four killed in bus-truck collision in Gopalganj
At least four people have been killed and 20 others injured after a bus collided with a truck and fell into a trench beside the highway in Gopalganj. The accident took place in Dhaka-Khulna highway near Kashiani upazila's Pona area on Tuesday afternoon. The dead were identified as Kashiani upazila's Shahjahan Molla, 50, a trader of construction materials and son of Rulu Molla, the helper of the truck Sohag Talukdar, 18, son of Borkot Talukdar, the helper of the bus Nayan, 25, and Bagerhat Mahila Parishad President Shilpi Samaddar, 65. The injured are admitted to Gopalganj and Kashiani hospitals. Hospital sources said some of them are in critical condition. The helpers of the two vehicles died on the spot and two others died on their way to the hospital, the officer added. Rescue operation of fire service and highway police were still in progress during the filing of this report on Tuesday evening. The road was blocked for at least an hour after the accident.
