A massive fire has broken out at Rupali Bangla Jute Mill in Birol upazila, Dinajpur.
Witnesses said the fire originated from an electric short circuit around 3pm on Tuesday. At least 1,200 workers were inside the factory at that time.
The fire was brought under control around 10pm.
Five firefighting units are currently making frantic efforts to suppress the fire.
The firefighters rescued the workers from the mill with the help of the locals. Seventeen of the rescued were taken to Birol Upazila Health Complex, according to Dinajpur Fire Station Inspector Akter Ahmed.
Later, two injured workers were shifted to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
The damage caused by the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
