Desh TV journo missing since Feb 15
Private television channel Desh TV's Manikganj district correspondent Obaidur Rahman has been missing for ten days. The journo went missing while he was returning to Manikganj from Jessore on February 15, according to his fellow travellers. Obaidur had disappeared from near a filling station in Monibar Cinema Hall area around 11pm on February 15, said a press release from the Manikganj district unit of Bangladesh Krishak Samity on Sunday. Obaidur was involved with Ghior upazila unit of the Samity in Manikganj. He along with other members of the organization were returning after attenting the organisation's national convention in Jessore, according to the press release. However, Ghior police had refused to record a general diary in this connection, alleged the missing journalist's wife Sokhina Sultana Ranu. Ranu said she had last talked to her husband over phone around 11am on February 16. Obaidur had been suffering from a neurological disorder, causing him to fain sometimes, she added. As the report was being filed on Sunday night, a maternal cousin of the missing was on the way to Jessore to file a general diary with the police station concerned.
