2 policemen involved in mugging Tk9 lakh from cattle trader
Four people, including two policemen, have been arrested from Dumuria upazila of Khulna on charge of snatching Tk9.15 lakh from a cattle trader. The arrestees are Assistant Sub-inspector Abdur Rowf Biswas and Constable Md Nadim of Bagerhat, and truck driver Monir Sardar and his assistant Raju Ghosh of Satkhira sadar upazila. They were arrested on Wednesday night. Judge Nusrat Jabin of Khulna Senior Judicial Magistrate Court sent them to jail after recording their confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Nizamul Haque, superintendent of police in Khulna, told the Dhaka Tribune, On February 15, Golam Rasul, a cattle trader from Satkhira sadar upazila, and his associates were returning home by a truck after selling 22 cows at a local market in Dumuria, according to the case statement. On their way home, Rowf and Nadim, introducing themselves as detectives, intercepted the cattle traders and conducted a search in the vehicle carrying them. The two policemen took away Tk9.15 lakh from them at gun point and speeded away by a motorcycle, the statement reads. During their drive on Wednesday, law enforcers, however, recovered Tk619,500 from Rowf and Nadim, and Tk35,500 from Monir, said Nizamul.
