Two suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) have been detained from Bhadra village in Satkhira district.
The detainees are Jahangir Alam Bablu, 40 alias Akhter alias Saad, and Ashraful Islam Dhali, 25. The duo worked as farmers.
Detective Branch (DB) of Police conducted a drive and detained them from a house with 50 rounds of bullets and a BAR riffle early Monday.
However, the detectives disclosed the matter late on Monday night.
District DB police Inspector Shahariar Hassan said: "We recovered the arms and ammunition from the kitchen of the house.
"They are both trained militants and work for Ansarullah Bangla Team. They received training from a den in Dhaka's Mirpur area two years ago."
He said they had plans to carry out subversive activities during the upcoming national polls.
Inspector Shahariar Hassan said they are interrogating the detainees and carrying out drives to recover more arms and ammunitions belonging to the duo.
Two cases have been filed in this regard, he said adding that they will brief the media on Tuesday.
